Executive Director, Child Poverty Collaborative

Location: Cincinnati Area

Our region is ranked 6th nationally in child poverty, with nearly forty percent of children estimated to be living below the federal poverty level.  Convened by Mayor John Cranley and leaders from business and the nonprofit sector, the Child Poverty Collaborative is an initiative designed to address the unacceptable rates of child poverty in Cincinnati. Our initial goal is to move 5,000 families out of poverty in the next five years.  The Collaborative is governed by a six member Executive Committee.

Reporting to the chair of the Executive Committee, the Executive Director of the Child Poverty Collaborative (CPC) serves as the entity’s chief administrative officer and executive staff to the organization’s Executive Committee and a a community Steering Committee.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and direction to initiatives in community development, relationships, legislative action and public policy, employer roundtables and ongoing community engagement opportunities.
  • Assists the Executive Committee in the development of strategic plans, long- and short-range goals, objectives and outcome measurements.
  • Conducts research and analyzes community and constituent needs.
  • Develops structure of the Collaborative and plans human capital resources as programs grow.
  • Develops and implements a public relations strategy designed to communicate the mission, programs, and services to the community.  Ensures these programs and services are communicated to the community in order to build community support.
  • Maintains liaison with community groups and agencies, ensuring activities of the Collaborative are coordinated with appropriate groups, including a 45 member community steering committee.
  • Monitors the policies, plans and procedures of the Collaborative.
  • Monitors programs and services to ensure constituent needs have been met.
  • Implements public relations strategies that enhance the image, visibility, profile and support of the organization.
  • Hiring, supervising and reviewing staff 

Desired qualifications include:

  • Master’s  degree preferred (in business administration, public/health administration, education, social work, human resources administration, or related discipline).
  • Ten (10) years of experience in business management, strategic planning,  program development planning and administration, or a combination of the above.
  • Five (5) years of experience working with a volunteer board or other demonstrated community leadership experience.
  • Five (5) years of senior level management experience.
  • Through past employment, board membership or community involvement, the successful candidate must display a drive and passion for transformational improvement in our community.
